Year 5 Planetarium experience More events...
  • Year 5 Planetarium experienceAs part of our ‘Ancient Egypt’ and ‘Space’ topics, we have arranged a great opportunity for the children to take part in to support their learning, the children will explore a planetarium in school. Bringing the mobile Planetarium into school is a brilliant way to enthuse the children as it uses state of the art video projection to present ‘Space’. Not only will the children explore different aspects of the solar system under the dome, they will be taught about the role the Ancient Egyptians played in our understanding of Astronomy. We will then have some time with the visitor back in class, where he will answer as many of their queries about the universe as he can! Due to the generosity of the PTA, there will be no cost for the planetarium.

Remembrance Service More events...
  • Remembrance ServiceYears 4 and 6 will be joining together with children from St Anne’s School and Manor Primary School for a Remembrance Service at All Saints Church, Streetly. The children will be remembering those lost in war and promoting a message of peace and unity. Unfortunately, due to space restrictions we are not able to accommodate parents at the service. We will be walking to the church and back, with accompanying staff to ensure the children’s safety. Therefore, on Tuesday 11th November it is essential that your child comes to school in full school uniform with an appropriate warm, waterproof coat and suitable waterproof footwear to enable them to undertake the walk safely and in comfort. We will be back in school by lunchtime so the usual arrangements for lunch will apply.

Online-safety Parent Workshop More events...
  • Online-safety Parent Workshop18:00 - 19:00The internet and the online world can be an amazing resource and tool for communication, information and enjoyment. However, it also has inherent risks that can be of huge concern. At Blackwood School, children are regularly taught about how to stay safe and behave online and we want to ensure that parents understand the same message. A parent workshop to support parents and carers in keeping their child(ren) safe online has been arranged for Thursday 20th November at 6.00pm. The workshop is open to all the parents and carers of Blackwood pupils and will last for approximately one hour. As our CEOP Education Ambassador, I will provide support on how to keep your child safe online. I will share with you my invaluable knowledge about current online dangers and what parents can do to protect your child as far as possible. It is important that as many parents and carers as possible join us on the evening to hear the messages regarding your child’s safety. Booking is not required and parking is available on-site via Cedar Drive from 5:45pm. We look forward to seeing you.
