Reading for Pleasure - Year Four “Recommended Reads”
We have “picked the brains” of a local independent book shop – H & H Spalding Books (based in Barton Under Needwood) – regarding sourcing some fantastic books to broaden the reading choices of our children and hopefully to inspire a lifelong love of reading. The teachers really enjoyed diving into the book boxes which Spalding Books sent to us! Together they have carefully selected 6 books which will be available for your child to take home over the course of each year.
Please ask your child to share the texts they bring home with you. It might be that they require you (or another family member) to read the books to them to fully access and appreciate the reading experience. Finding some special one-to-one reading time in your day, week or when relaxing on holiday will certainly help to enhance your child’s love of reading.
Once completed, the books can be returned to class so that your child can take out the next one. You do not need to purchase the books yourselves. However, parents often ask for book recommendations so please find below the names of our “Recommended Reads” and those of the other texts suggested by the book shop for your child’s age range.
Many thanks in advance for your support with this exciting initiative. Happy reading…
