Thank you,
The Year 1 Team
During our transition into Year 1, we learnt about the artist, Frida Kahlo! We listened to a story about her and learnt that Frida had had a hard life but that didn’t stop her painting. We looked at her paintings and thought about which ones we liked and didn’t like.
Frida Kahlo grew up in Mexico. We spent some time looking at Mexico and finding out about their schools, music, weather, food and famous places.
We used Frida’s style to have a go at some of our own pieces of art.
We created:
A Mexican style sun – focussing on different ways of making marks and cutting and sticking paper
Sombrero – focusing on cutting, tearing and sticking and creating patterns
Frida Kahlo inspired art – focussing on cutting and sticking
Self-portrait – focussing on drawing from observation and using lines to represent an outline
