Welcome to Blackwood Primary School from Ms Coles (Headteacher).
You are about to make an important decision, to decide on the primary school in which your child might thrive best. Your decision won’t be helped this year by the Covid-19 restrictions which don’t allow prospective parents to tour the school whilst the children are in their classrooms learning. To try to offset this, there is lots of information about our school on our website and our Early Years Team, led by Mrs Massey, our Deputy Headteacher has put together a presentation about what life is like for a child in our nursery and a child in our reception classes. Please take time to look at the wealth of information that has been uploaded. We hope this will help your decision-making and that you will choose to partner with us at Blackwood School as your child begins their educational journey.
We are a big, busy but friendly school, with lots going on. Each child is valued, respected and encouraged to become an independent, self-confident learner who is fully engaged and involved in their education so that they can achieve as much as they possibly can. We believe that positive partnerships between parents, children and our school staff is important and is key to a successful education for each child. At Blackwood School our children learn the importance of manners, to respect others and to be tolerant of the views of others, to work together, to care for each other and to be confident in themselves and their abilities. We value each of our children for their individuality and the contribution that they make to our school family. Being a pupil at Blackwood School is not just about a successful, academic primary education it is about acquiring the key skills and qualities, which are the foundation for a happy and successful life.
We hope that you find any information you are looking for to make your important decision. Please feel free to contact the school directly with any queries you may have. Even if we cannot meet face to face, we can still have a conversation over the phone!
Best wishes with your decision making!
