  • A thank you from Walsall North Foodbank

    Mon 02 Dec 2019

Please find detailed below a thank you letter from Walsall North Foodbank for all the wonderful donations year 6 have made to this organisation.

                                                                                     November 29th 2019

    Dear Year 6, Blackwood School,

Everyone here at Walsall North Foodbank would like to thank every single one of you very much for the things that you have collected and donated to us recently.

We understand that you have been hearing all about Guru Nanak’s 550th birthday and looking at different ways that you can help people. By donating food to this Foodbank, you have helped local people who otherwise would not be able to feed themselves or their families.

In the last year, we have fed 1504 people, and 629 of these were children.

On behalf of the foodbank leaders and our team of volunteers, we would like to thank you again for helping to support Walsall North Foodbank. Without the kindness and generosity of people like you, we would not be able to continue to help hungry people in this way.

Many thanks and wishing you a lot of fun and happiness over Christmas time.

              Yours faithfully

Vickie Heydon-Matterface            (PR & Media Representative)

Signed on behalf of Walsall North Foodbank Steering group

  • Engineering trip to Crabtrees Factory in Manchester

    Thu 21 Nov 2019

A big thank you to Darren Garbett from Crabtree's who kindly gave the opportunity to 8 Blackwood children to visit the Crabtree factory in Manchester. They met the design team in the offices and learnt the process from concept through to design and manufacture. They had a tour of the factory learning about just in time production.  They watched laboratory testing of electrical components exploding!

The children also took part in a Lord Sugar apprentice style task.

We can't thank Crabtree's enough for this amazing opportunity they have given these children. It is an experience they will never forget.

Please take a look at our photo's from today's visit.
