Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school.
To all,
Please keep bringing in your Sun Books for Schools Tokens. They are printed in the Sun everyday. We need 3500 of them by 18th January. Please can you ask friends, family and work colleagues to collect them on your behalf. We've only collected a few so far so please encourage everyone to collect them. If we collect 3500 we can claim £600 of books which would make a tremendous difference to our library and the children that use it.
Tokens can be handed in to the school office.
Please retweet this message, post it on Facebook etc to get the message out there.
We wanted to remind you all of our Safer Schools app and inform our new parents of this fabulous free resource.Jim Gamble, former and founding CEO of the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre has designed this resource. The app contains safeguarding information that is contemporary, credible and relevant to keeping your child safe. The app will send you an alert if there is something you need to be aware of for example a new app or social media platform which may not be safe for children. There is information about all areas of safeguarding including cyber safety, privacy settings, sadfishing, dark settings on social media to name just a few. There is a parent area of the app and a pupil area of the app, suitable for KS2 children. Please look out for the email tomorrow which will have the access codes for you to access this wonderful free resource.
Please find detailed below a thank you letter from Walsall North Foodbank for all the wonderful donations year 6 have made to this organisation.
November 29th 2019
Dear Year 6, Blackwood School,
Everyone here at Walsall North Foodbank would like to thank every single one of you very much for the things that you have collected and donated to us recently.
We understand that you have been hearing all about Guru Nanak’s 550th birthday and looking at different ways that you can help people. By donating food to this Foodbank, you have helped local people who otherwise would not be able to feed themselves or their families.
In the last year, we have fed 1504 people, and 629 of these were children.
On behalf of the foodbank leaders and our team of volunteers, we would like to thank you again for helping to support Walsall North Foodbank. Without the kindness and generosity of people like you, we would not be able to continue to help hungry people in this way.
Many thanks and wishing you a lot of fun and happiness over Christmas time.
Yours faithfully
Vickie Heydon-Matterface (PR & Media Representative)
Signed on behalf of Walsall North Foodbank Steering group
