Fri 24 Mar 2017 Ms Bains

Comic Relief went off with a bang this year with a non-uniform day, a bake sale plus a host of games and competitions such as Apple Bobbing, Pin the nose on Sir Lenny Henry and two staff Sweepstakes. We've banked £1150 so far and expect a little more from some cakes that will be on sale on Monday. Well done everyone! We'll post the final fundraised amount here on Monday.

  • Happy Mothers Day

Fri 24 Mar 2017 Ms Bains

There wasn't a dry eye in the house today when Reception pupils hosted their Mother's Day Tea Party. Especially chosen songs were sung with each child saying a few words about why they love their mother. All our mother's day visitors were presented with a goody bag containing treats and handmade gifts for them to enjoy over the weekend.

    To all Blackwood mums:

    Each mother is beyond compare

    We love you mothers everywhere

  • A Rip-Roaring Exhibition: Y1 Dinosaurs Roam the School Hall.

Thu 23 Mar 2017 Ms Bains

Year 1 today showcased their amazing dinosaur-inspired creations at the annual Year 1 Dinosaur Exhibition. There was an abundance of species from the aggressive Allosaurus, to the spiky Stegasaurus and many more in between. Our brave Blackwood paleontologist dug deep to unearth some impressive exhibits that brought their topic to life!

  • Forest Arts Spring Dance Festival

Mon 13 Mar 2017 Ms Bains

Blackwood pupils participated in the Annual Forest Arts Spring Dance festival with our KS2 Dance troupe performing a modern dance piece to "By Your Side" by Jonas Blue and our Baby Ballet group performing a piece based on the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy from The Nutcracker. The children also received outstanding formal instruction from renowned professional choreographers which was performed as the festival opener. It was a brilliant day for all with the children coming away with skills and ideas that they'll showcase in future performances. Many thanks to the Dance Team, Jo Taylor, Miss Stevens and Miss Neuenhaus for all their support. We look forward to the next dance festival with great anticipation!

  • Flight BLKWDKS2 scheduled departure 3rd March 2017

Fri 03 Mar 2017 Ms Bains

Blackwood pupils celebrated International Language and Culture day by visiting a number of far-flung exotic destinations. On their round the world trip they hopped from Italy to Australia, from India to Greece, from France to Canada sampling local cuisine and culture. We suspect a number of pupils have now caught the travel bug!

  • World Book Day: Blackwood loves books

Thu 02 Mar 2017 Ms Bains

Blackwood pupils and staff showed how much they truly love books by dressing up as their favourite characters for World Book Day. There was a gaggle of Gangsta Grannies, masses of Mary Poppins' as well as a pack load of Paddington Bears!

Year 5 and Year 6 had an extra special treat when visiting author Laura Wood talked to them about her books and writing.

Well done everyone for inspiring each other to pick up a book, turn a page and read more!
